A Bit About Me

Dr. Vander Plaats is a licensed veterinarian & college educator with a passion for efficiency & agriculture education. As a full time practicing livestock veterinarian, she helped many 4-H & FFA students & advisors with animal health issues (especially as fair season approached!) & gained a deep appreciation for the work school farm & SAE advisors put in each day both in the classroom & on the farm. As she made the transition into education & started networking with secondary & post-secondary agriculture educators, Dr. Vander Plaats realized the need for professional development & resources related to animal health & husbandry & school farm management.

Thus, VanderPlan Consulting was born! Our goal at VanderPlan Consulting is to provide high school & college educators online training, professional & teaching resources, & on-farm workshops & consultation to increase their knowledge of livestock husbandry & veterinary needs, improve their confidence in their ability to handle animal health or farm management situations, & focus more of their time on their lives in the classroom, on farm, & at home.

In addition to the resources geared towards ag educators, Dr. Vander Plaats also has a special interest in creating easy-to-use clinical resources for her fellow livestock veterinarians. Originally intended for her own personal use, VanderPlan also offers quick reference pages to make livestock veterinarians' days in the truck a little easier, compiled from relevant & recent veterinary literature, professional association resources & guidelines, & industry manuals.
